Last night, I was looking for a new veterinary clinic for my miniature schnauzer (Shamrock) because the previous clinic I was currently taking Shamrock to was located in a different city. Also, I was very unsatisfied with the services I had encountered with the clinic of unnecessary charges & unwillingness to explain certain services. It was very unsettling and distasteful to continue to take my dog there with individuals that were solely capital driven and not empathetic to the overall care of my dog. Therefore, I was a little nervous to finding a clinic that would be a good fit for my concerns/questions and how Shamrock would adjust to the new environment. After I had done some research and found this clinic on google. I went to the website to print and fill out the new patient form. I called the next morning to schedule an appointment for a wellness exam and Deanna was very friendly and helpful. I was able to book Shamrock an appointment the same day. When arriving to the clinic, it looked like a pet sanctuary. I felt like I was taking my dog to a doggie spa. The clinic is absolutely beautiful with two waiting areas, fresh coffee, and an outdoor area. When I walked into the clinic, I was greeted by Deanna, who was equally friendly in person as she was on the phone when I made the appointment for Shamrock. After Shamrock was checked into the clinic, I enjoyed a cup of coffee, waited probably no longer than 10 minutes before I was greeted by another friendly staff member into the examination room. She had taken a very complete history of Shamrock and noted down all of my concerns. I was really impressed by the little details into making the visit more comforting for Shamrock, liking putting a fresh warm rug on the examination table, so he wasn't so nervous while being examined. Dr. Thurston introduced herself and gently examined Shamrock thoroughly and addressing all of my concerns. I really appreciate her taking the time to answer all my question and concerns, I never felt rushed. After the exam was done, she addressed areas that she had concerns about, how I might resolve these issues, gave me suggestions on new products, but I had felt that I always had the final say on what treatment was best for Shamrock. I felt I had complete autonomy during my visit (something I am very grateful that this clinic has highlighted during the visit), I didn't feel like I would be judge if I didn't do the expensive treatment, or I was being forced or expected to do something without an explanation. They give you the suggested tests & products they would recommend based on their assessment and your concerns, with an explanation why this might be beneficial to the overall well-being of your pet, and then YOU get to decide if that is something you would like to have done right now or wait for another time. Just remember YOU always have the option to accept or decline those suggestions. Also, I've been to other clinics before where you have to bring in a stool sample for the heart worm test, but they did everything in the back room. I was in shock how easy & wonderful they made this process for Shamrock and I. They gave Shamrock some treats during the exam to help calm his nerves and was so nurturing and compassionate. I had never felt so good after leaving a veterinary clinic before, this is the absolute best clinic. After I left the clinic, I called my friend, my dad, and told my boyfriend how wonderful this clinic was and that I was so lucky to have found this clinic for Shamrock. The added bonus is that this clinic is very close to my house, so I don't have to drive very far. But if I had to drive across town, I would in a split second because the veterinary team is superior! Thank you for making my first experience and transition so great and flawless.

When I had a my cat, Paris, the staff took great care of her. Now with my dog Mylan, I won't go anywhere else! I recommend PAWS to anyone who is looking for an excellent clinic. Thank You PAWS!

Excellent staff and setting!! I was anxious about having my little dog put under for a dental cleaning since she had taken over 48 hours to return to normal after anesthesia each time in the past (and her sister had died under anesthesia a few years earlier) Dr. Aronson listened carefully to my concerns and ajusted her sedation accordingly. When I picked Misty up post-op after her dental yesterday, she was perky and normal!! I wouldn't have guessed that she had undergone a procedure under general (her teth looked great too) As a physician and a neurotic pet parent, I am so greatful to have Dr. Aronson and his wonderful staff in Tucson!

I have been using this facility since it first opened. There aren't enough positive words to describe it.

All I can say is, can we get a location in Vail??

We were treated very courteously, kindly and respectfully. We greatly appreciated the follow up calls and the encouragement of questions. The sense of competence and genuine caring was very comforting.

The staff and doctors are very courteous, friendly and professional. Dr. Halstead is great and very knowledgeable on acupuncture. Our cat Emily is a new cat with the treatment. We can't thank her enough!

I was very impressed with the staffs professionalism and friendliness. I enjoyed the tour of the clinic, what a facility! I will expect the best of care for Oliver.

Dr. Halstead was wonderful! Even after being long time pet owners, we were surprised to learn about alternative recommendations and treatments. No other clinic we've been to even mentioned alternatives. They even sent a satisfaction survey to receive feedback.

This is a great place! Better than my personal Dr.'s office! I also noticed the place is very clean and beautiful.

Everyone is both professional and friendly. I've been able to stay with my pet during exams. I usually have to wait outside of the vets office because I have a severe allergy to cats.

I came to PAWS for a second opinion consult for a specific condition with my pet. I wasn't planning on changing vets but your clinic, the doctors and the staff are so great, I think we will change.

On December 21, 2010, I made the difficult decision to terminate the life of one of my beloved dogs - I have 3. After 70 years, I wish I could say it becomes less traumatic - I would be lying. As my dogs were some of the first patients when PAWS opened its doors, I feel qualified to write a review of the services it extends. Dr's Aronson, Thurston, and Halstead have seen Mazel, Yoffee, and Kneidle for the routine (with a scheduled appointment,) as well as the urgent (without an appointment.) Situations that could be managed via the telephone - such as prescriptions and advice, were done so, efficiently. I never felt pressured to bring the dogs in for evaluation, unless it were necessary. On this day, Amber (Customer Service Representative,) took my call, observed that there wasn't an opening, and offered to speak to Dr. Aronson. I was offered the option of coming in immediately. When I arrived, Audrey (Veterinary Technical Supervisor,) greeted and placed me and Kneidle in a quiet room, where she quickly and compassionately evaluated and addressed my needs and concerns. A treatment plan was formed. Audrey left the room to place the intravenous, Dr. Aronson entered. He was, as always, very reassuring. Kneidle was brought back wrapped comfortably in a white warm towel. Dr. Aronson gave him the appropriate medication as he lay on my lap. When I was ready, he was taken away. I was told to stay as long as I needed. At that time, Dr. Halstead came in - she had evaluated Kneidle in the past, and had heard of the situation. When I felt comfortable enough to drive, I left. As an addendum, I have named and given credit to but a small sampling of the staff. Over the years, I have had the privilege of encountering many others. To everyone at PAWS, I wish to express my gratitude for your compassion, level of expertise and competency.
THANK YOU. KNEIDLE & JOYCE ROSENFELD

Wished we lived in the Tucson area so we could be regular patients at PAWS. Simon is already showing signs of improvement. We have put him on "Taste of the Wild" Pacific Salmon. He is drinking water at every meal! Thank you!! Everyone was great! We know that if we have a question there is someone there to help.

I was really impressed with our treatment. You went above and beyond other vets practices. We have lived in Tucson for 23 years and I am sorry to say that we have had numerous vets until we found you. We have recommended you to all of our friends!

Wow! Very impressive clinic. I now understand why the clinic is referred to as a wellness center. My dog has always been stressed at veterinary offices. She was calm and relaxed at PAWS. She did not know she was in a veterinary clinic. She is responding to treatment. I plan on making PAWS my primary clinic for both of my dogs.

Dr. Halstead was amazing, caring, smart and communicative. She is my vet from now on!

Meka
"The Miracle Girl"
Meka started a remarkable chapter in her life shortly after her surgery. Even in her weakened state, Meka visited PAWS and had a consultation with Dr. Randy Aronson. Dr. Aronson gave her human hope that Meka could beat the timetable given to her. With an integrated treatment plan of supplements prescribed by Dr. Aronson, a healthy eating plan full of protein and antioxidants and lots of love, Mekastayed strong through her chemotherapy and beyond. Pretty soon 6 months had passed since her diagnosis and then 9 months and then 1 year. She beat the odds and marveled even her original oncologist and Purdue University (where she went for checkups every 3 months). Everyone referred to her as the Miracle Girl.
Okay, so she beat the cancer, now it was time to tackle another ailment Meka had for several years, arthritis. Even though Meka had suffered years from arthritis and it continued to get worse, she was the ultimate German Shepherd Dog, always by the side of her human, as well as leading her pack pf GSD's. Once again, Meka sought the PAWS family. In January of 2010, just one year after being diagnosed with terminal cancer, Meka started a rehab program with Dr. Aronson and Therapist Sherri Jerzyk. First she underwent aquapuncture and then twice weekly underwater tradmill therapy. She was also given an exercise program by Therapist Sherri Jerzyk to help strengthen her core, to help alleviate the soreness her arthritis gave her. Within a month, Meka was able to play ball and Frisbee even with her young 1 year old brother, as well as walk 2 to 4 miles a day without limping.
I can truly say the entire PAWS family played a huge part in Meka's continuing quality of life! Meka has now been cancer free for almost 1-1/2 years and has reached the age of almost 9-1/2 years. She continues to lead her family with the same loyalty and strength she did as a pup. Each additional say she loves her family as a gift. The PAWS family are remarkable and truly understand that our pets are an important part of the family. Meka was right, she was not done yet.

Dear Dr. Aronson and staff,
We are writing you to say thank you for giving our dog "Summer" a second chance in life. When we brought Summer to PAWS in June 2009 you were our last hope. Summer had been given as little as one week to live with a multitude of problems, including a failed cranial cruciate ligament surgery. There was never much hope of Summer ever using her hind leg again or recovering from kidney failure. So we asked you and your staff for help and hope. We were fortunate to get both. Summer was put into your Rehabilitation Therapy Program with Sherry Jerzyk. Sherry was amazing with Summer. Her dedication and determination to see her walk again was unsurpassed. Through the use of cold laser therapy, massage therapy, strengthening exercises and aquapuncture Summer is now walking, running and playing using the hind leg everyone else had given up on. Summer's blood work is now normal including her kidney function.
The entire journey has been a wonderful experience filled with hope and dedication. We cannot thank you and your staff enough for having the faith and determination to help a dog all others had given up on. We are confident your diet changes, supplements, and rehabilitation therapy has given our dog a new quality of life. You and your staff understood the importance of treating our dog as a family member and giving our dog a second chance. We are forever grateful to you and your professional, kind staff.
Grateful Mom,
Debbie B.
